Ca' d'Oro

Ca' d'Oro, located in the Cannaregio "sestiere" directly on the Grand Canal, is worldwide known as of the most ancient palaces in Venice, one of the greatest examples of the Venetian gothic style, and also because originally some parts of its sumptuous facade were made of gold. Ca' d'Oro is nowadays home to a permament museum, the Franchetti Gallery, which exhibits the permanent art collection of Barone Giorgio Franchetti (1865-1927) and always organizes and proposes modern and contemporary art exhibitions.
